Sassicaia

The 2006 release of Sassicaia - 85% Cabernet Sauvignon / 15% Cabernet Franc, twenty-four months in French oak barriques with around a third new. 2006 in Bolgheri began with an irregular, drawn-out flowering in early June, then a hot but never excessive summer with almost no rain. Cool August nights pulled aromatic potential and acidity back into balance; a brief rain at the start of harvest, then a slow, dry pick. Grapes came in concentrated and evenly ripe.
