The 2016 release of Sassicaia - 85% Cabernet Sauvignon / 15% Cabernet Franc, twenty to twenty-five months in French oak barriques (with a small portion in American oak for this vintage), the precise duration calibrated to vintage character. 2016 ran from a warm dry late autumn 2015 into a cold November-January, then a wet February. The long hot summer carried somewhat more rain than 2015, lifting acidity. Considered one of Bolgheri's most complete and age-worthy modern vintages - depth, balance, and ageing structure all aligned.
