Absolutely stunning wine that's still stretching into itself, nowhere near its prime but already (still?) compelling. Nordic berries mixed with bacon and flowers - so many flowers, like someone scattered petals over smoked meat. The VA doesn't hide; it elevates everything, making it feel lighter and juicier than it probably is. Still properly tannic with decent grip, yet wonderfully balanced. Sweet herbs whisper through the finish. Vibrant and restless in the best way.
Oh, what a beautiful wine this is - I'm almost at a loss for words. It feels Pinot-like but with such a vivid personality of its own. Bursting with red fruit, Nordic berries, flowers, iron, spice, and yes, a touch of bacon - but in that wonderful, smoky, savoury way. The tannin still has a slight grip to it, but given some air, the wine finds an exceptional balance and polish. The structure becomes seamless, and the finish - long, flavourful, elegant - lingers with quiet authority. Sophisticated, expressive, and an utter joy to drink.
