Artífice Listán Blanco

The regional white of the Artífice line, 100% Listán Blanco (known in mainland Spain as Palomino) from small growers' parcels across Ycoden-Daute-Isora, as opposed to Llanito Perera, drawn from two plots on one site in Icod de los Vinos, and the multi-variety Vidueños. Borja Pérez's website is a placeholder, so the technical detail belongs to his importers and merchants and is vintage-specific where they give one. The US importer Ungrafted Selections' sheet for the 2019 has eight parcels totalling 4 ha of own-rooted vines over fifty years old on basaltic loam between 400 and 650 m, picked from late August to early October, each parcel fermented apart with native yeasts in used 500 l French barrels and a 2,500 l foudre, malolactic and about ten months of ageing in the same vessels before blending, no stabilisation or fining, a light filtration, 42 mg/l total SO2 and 3,800 bottles plus 100 magnums. For the 2022, hic.wine gives 500 l barrels and a year of ageing; an undated Tim Atkin note quoted by Vin Cognito describes nine north-facing parcels around La Guancha between 300 and 700 m with about 20% of the wine in concrete, a vessel Spanish Wine Lover says the estate used for its whites at the time of its profile. That profile puts current production at about 8,000 bottles. Justerinis says Borja likes a little skin contact on his whites, but no source states it for this wine. The label reads 12%, as does hic.wine, against Vin Cognito's 12.5%, and the importer sticker dates the bottling to 15 June 2024.
