NeroBaronj

NeroBaronj is Gulfi's single-contrada Nero d'Avola from Baroni, one of the old alberello bush-vine sites around Pachino in Sicily's south-eastern Val di Noto. The soil is pale, limestone-rich clay; the vineyards are dry-farmed and organic, worked along biodynamic lines under Salvo Foti. Spontaneous fermentation with a long maceration on the skins, malolactic, then a couple of years in old 225 and 500 litre botti and a further year in bottle before release. Built to age, structured and savory rather than jammy. 14%.
