Conasbrancas

Conasbrancas is the lone white at Fedellos, an answer to the question "conas brancas?" - what to do with the white vines scattered through the red field blends of the Val do Bibei. It draws on 60-80-year-old parcels on both banks of the Bibei, at 450-650 metres on granite, slate and sand, co-fermenting Doña Blanca and Godello with Albariño, Treixadura, Lado and Torrontés. Early vintages leaned on long whole-bunch skin infusion; recent ones pare the skin work back to a short maceration, most of the fruit pressed to neutral 500L French oak - joined from 2023 by two 2,000L foudres - for around eight months on lees without batonnage. The 2023, picked from August to early September, lands around 12% - light, herbal, pollen-scented, with a strong mineral streak.
