Pulse is Somma's varietal Pinot Noir from southern Moldova, the winery's home ground in the Taraclia district, and a child of the scorching 2024 vintage: the first fruit the brothers looked at had shriveled to raisins and they nearly skipped the wine altogether, until a neighbouring field turned up very good grapes - though the heat of the year still shows. It is also a first for the house: the one wine where Somma used cultured yeasts and inoculated the malolactic rather than letting both run wild, even if the brothers' own preference remains spontaneous malo. Elevage was one new barrel, with the rest split evenly between steel and old casks. The producer's own label note promises delicate red fruit, freshness and fine structure. The 2024 was bottled on 6 November 2025 at 13% alcohol.
A delicate Pinot Noir is not the obvious thing to make in Moldova's warm south, but it fits the house style - Somma's wines lean on acidity and finesse rather than the ripeness the climate would happily give.
