Extra Brut Reserve is the drier of Bründlmayer's two flagship white Sekt bottlings, a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay cuvée drawn from various estate sites, mainly southeast-facing slopes on calcareous soils. The importer's back label gives this bottling as 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay; the split moves between releases, and the US importer describes a neighbouring lot as half and half. Base wines ferment in stainless steel and go through malolactic fermentation, then age in used Austrian oak, some 300 litre casks and some 2500 litre.
The base wine went into bottle for the second fermentation in September 2020 (lot code L16330/09/20, the importer's date of manufacture 3 September 2020). This lot was hand-riddled and disgorged in March 2025, so about 54 months on the lees - notably longer than the near-four-year figure the house usually quotes for the cuvée.
