The importer's back label gives this bottling as 40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir, and 10% each of Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris; the proportions shift from release to release. The varietal base wines ferment in stainless steel and go through malolactic fermentation, then age in used Austrian oak, some 300 litre casks and some 2500 litre, before the cuvée is assembled and bottled for the second fermentation.
This lot went to tirage on 21 May 2019 (lot code L12949/05/19), was riddled by hand, and was disgorged in September 2022 - about 40 months on the lees, well past the 18 month minimum the Reserve tier requires. Residual sugar 10.8 g/L, 12% abv.
Sekt Austria Reserve Niederösterreich g.U., certified organic. Reserve is the middle tier of the Sekt Austria g.U. pyramid: fruit and base wine from a single federal state, hand-picking mandatory, traditional bottle fermentation only, at least 18 months on the lees, and residual sugar capped at 12 g/L.
