This wine presents a somewhat puzzling experience. The nose is beautifully complex, featuring Nordic berries, raw meat, underbrush, spices, and mushrooms, suggesting a touch of development. However, on the palate, the high acidity stands out, and the fruit presence isn't quite enough to balance it completely. It carries a Nordic wine character that's delicious but best enjoyed with food. While complex and intriguing, it's not an immediately accessible wine.
This bottle was finished eight hours after opening it---I was taking my time and simply enjoying this beauty. Despite the label stating the wine is 10 years old, it feels much younger. Notes of Nordic berries, blueberries, raw meat, underbrush, spices, and some pickles/mushrooms. Fresh, medium-bodied with good acidity, good fruit, and a long aftertaste. Sophisticated and beautiful.
