Gols, Neusiedlersee, Burgenland. Third-generation sibling label out of Weingut Renner (a Pannobile founder). Launched by sisters Stefanie and Susanne in 2015; younger brother Georg joined 2019. Organic conversion from 2009, Demeter-certified from the 2018 harvest. Waiting for Tom the flagship.
Rennersistas is the younger-generation natural-wine label at Weingut Renner in Gols, on the north-eastern shore of the Neusiedlersee in Burgenland. The parent estate was taken over by Helmuth and Birgit Renner in 1988; Helmuth was one of the seven founders of Pannobile, the Gols quality collective, in 1994. Their daughters Stefanie and Susanne Renner came back to the estate in late 2014 and launched Rennersistas with the 2015 vintage; younger brother Georg joined in 2019. Susanne stepped back in 2021; Stefanie and Georg now run the project, though the "sistas" branding has stuck.
Around 13 hectares across the classic Gols sites (Altenberg, Schafleiten, Salzberg, Gebühl, Ungerberg) plus the Heideboden flatlands. Organic conversion began in 2009, first certified organic harvest 2012; Demeter-certified biodynamic from the 2018 harvest. Roughly 50/50 white and red: Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Weissburgunder, Grauburgunder, Muscat Ottonel and a little Gewürztraminer for whites; Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Sankt Laurent and Pinot Noir for reds.
The cuvée to know is Waiting for Tom - the name is Stefanie's nod to her two mentors Tom Lubbe at Matassa and Tom Shobbrook in the Barossa - with Weiss, Rosé and Rot versions each year. Around that sit Intergalactic (skin-contact orange blend), Superglitzer (juicy red blend), In A Hell Mood (Sankt Laurent pét-nat), plus single-varietal Grauburgunder, Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch. Susanne's partner is Claus Preisinger next door - the whole Gols cluster (Gut Oggau, Christian Tschida, Judith Beck, Pittnauer, Nittnaus) is the social context.
