OK, it really just needed time. Back in colour, no longer the diluted thing from two weeks ago - proper Burlotto now. Still closed, but wild strawberries and red flowers are emerging, with white pepper and underbrush behind them. Chalky, textured, juicy. The tannin is grainy and green, but the finish - coffee, acid sweets - promises something beautiful once it settles. Charming, deep, and already utterly delicious.
A strange one. Watery, almost diluted - it lacks the concentration and core you'd expect from Burlotto. Sicilian blood orange, tea leaves, tobacco. The fruit is hiding, reluctant to come out. Possibly road-tired, possibly just too young and shut down. It does improve with time in the glass as it aerates, slowly finding its shape. Not bad per se - there's elegance underneath - but something feels off. Needs a re-taste in a few weeks before passing judgement.
