Benje Blanco

Oh. This Listán Blanco is seriously good. Just a bit funky at first - that familiar sulphur-smoke thing you sometimes get from the Canaries - but it quickly lifts. Then it's grilled lemon, stones, sea spray, sardines, and a touch of chamomile tea. It's intensely salty and mineral, with sharp but well-integrated acidity. There's a lovely lemon-and-yellow-fruit structure, and a kind of deliberate emptiness through the mid-palate that gives it space to breathe. Brilliant, just still very young. 4.0+
