I love this expression of Muscat. It opens with charming aromas of fallen apricot, dried herbs, tropical fruits, white flowers, and just a hint of slightly spoiled orange zest. The palate is round and rich - maybe a bit watery at moments - but the balance is nearly perfect. Bright acidity, good minerality, and a touch of VA that feels completely seamless. A charming and beautifully made wine.
This is one of my favorite expressions of Muscat. It beautifully balances the classic characteristics of the grape with a complexity that remains approachable and easy to drink, a hallmark of Tom's winemaking. And it's not vulgar! It offers enticing aromas of fallen apricot, dried herbs, tropical fruits, white flowers, and a hint of slightly rotten orange zest. The palate is round and rich, with nearly perfect balance, showcasing a pleasing acidity, minerality (sic!) and seamlessly integrated VA.
A wine about balance and pleasure. It's not too funky and not too prosaic. You know. Some people use profanity due to a lack of vocabulary (looking in the mirror), while others masterfully and consciously spice their speech. And that's how Matassa uses volatility.
A charming bouquet of fallen apricot, dried herbs, tropical fruits, white flowers and orange zest. Round, rich, almost perfectly balanced and delicious.
