Etna Rosso

Brought my own bottle to the supernatural wine festival and poured it blind for the table - the real point being a small surprise for Nadia Verrua of Cascina Tavijn, since we'd been talking Etna the night before. The wine still holds the shape from last October: beautiful nose, leather and sour cherry and blueberry threading through night-blooming flowers, properly perfumed. Tannin still reads a touch green, structure still settling, juiciness running through. Lovely now, even better in a couple of years.

Beautiful nose - some leather, sour cherry, blueberry, night-blooming flowers. Lovely perfume. But it's too young. The tannin's a bit green, though not overly powerful. Good juiciness throughout. This is tasty, but give it time. The structure's there, the fruit's there, it just needs to settle into itself. Worth revisiting in a couple of years.
