Black pepper, mushrooms, olives and capers - savoury, salt-and-acid territory rather than fruit. Fun in a curiosity way, no question. But it still drinks like faulty winemaking, and the savoury notes that make it interesting are the same ones flagging the problem.
This wine presents a challenging profile with red fruits and a distinct 'sweaty horse' aroma, contributing to a rather closed bouquet. The tannins feel unbalanced and somewhat unfriendly, making the overall experience less than inviting. The complexity here skews negatively, with VA and aggressive tannins almost staging a coup on the palate. Given its current state, it's difficult to drink and leaves me uncertain if decanting or further ageing would improve the situation. A tough and somewhat discordant offering.
