Pomelo, pear, a touch of walnut and cornichon - all wrapped in a strong chalky presence that gives this wine its poise. The limestone soils of Óis do Bairro speak loudly here; this is about terroir, not fruit. A bit funky, but not too much, and it gains depth with aeration. Light but not thin, with a smooth, almost creamy texture and gentle salinity adding complexity. Nutty notes and soft honey round things out without weighing it down. Biodynamic Bical from one of Portugal's best - Filipa Pato knows exactly what she's doing. Elegantly made, calm and composed. A quiet beauty that doesn't need to shout.
