Rhubarb, wild strawberries, chocolate crust, a fold of bitter herbs and earth underneath. Concentration hits cleanly, the fruit core is intact, and the tannin - still a touch green - is doing its job. Aromatics, structure, and juiciness line up like Nebbiolo more than Pinot. Still Pinot Noir in DNA, but where Mythopia's reds usually drift loose, this one actually holds.
The 2016 release of Vagabond, Mythopia's slow-elevage Pinot Noir from the schist side of the river that runs through the estate. House template - six-month whole-bunch maceration in airtight steel, then some thirty-eight months in 222-litre used oak without topping up. Three more years in bottle on this release than the 2019. 12% ABV. No SO2, no fining, no filtration.
