What a wonderful rosé/light red wine. Not a complex, but a charming bouquet of barberry candy, cherry compote, sweet rucola and fermentation notes. Some people might find the initial strain and fizziness a bit disturbing, but time heals, right? Or was it about oxygen? Anyhow, quaffable and easy-going summer drink.
Gluegglich Rosé is a blend of Pinot Noir, Saint-Laurent and Zweigelt. Selective picking by hand in boxes of 20 kg. Partly destemmed, partly whole cluster pressing. Spontaneously, partially fermented with berries (5%). 4 months on full lees, 2 months on fine lees. No fining and no filtering. Matured in wood and stainless steel tanks.
Generally speaking, Loimer is not my cup of tea. Maybe this rosé shined so well after tasting a few local wines. At least it was a refreshing reminder of good table wine meaning. Not complex but pleasant aromas of barberry candy, rhubarb and cherry compote. It has some strain at the beginning. Well-balanced and structured, fresh and juicy. A summer drink.
