Schiava as I remember it — but smokier this time around. Dried cherry and chocolate drift through the finish. Silky, light, eminently quaffable — proper vin de soif with a little more shadow. The heaviness I once complained about is long gone; what’s left is juicy, balanced, a joy to drink.
Didn't guess it - at all! Since my last encounter with this wine (almost a year ago), it has completely transformed. Gone is the heaviness I once complained about - now it's juicy, beautifully balanced, and just a joy to drink. A seriously tasty, well-made wine. So glad I was given a chance to taste it again.
This is not the first time I am tasting this wine, and again it left me puzzled. Vin de soif that somehow manages to be heavy. There's an earthy charm of wet forest floor combined with non-ripe red berries and some flowers, but on the palate, it lacks juiciness and is a bit too grippy to be easily quaffable. I don't know if it's just me, or if this bottle needs more time. It's not bad, just not a simple one.
