When Nicola Gatta maps his hills, four crus come first, the ones he calls certainties: Campiani Est, Campiani Ovest, Sabadina and Cudula. Campiani Est is planted only to Pinot Nero and is one of the oldest parcels he works, and he bottles it on its own as the parcellare 151.
The vineyard faces east, and in Gatta's vineyard diary it is usually among the first to bud and flower. The wine is a Nature: 50 lune on the lees, no dosage, no added sulphites. Gatta previews each new release of 151 and its Chardonnay sibling 479 at Gatta's Première, his December day for the parcellari. This one was poured there in December 2024 and released in March 2025, a year after the March 2024 release.
In 2023 Gatta began extending Campiani Est down the slope, onto new terraces of Pinot Nero on what he describes as clay and iron-rich soil, very high in gypsum and limestone. He expects the project to bear fruit over the next five to ten years. This release comes entirely from the old rows.
