Oof, this El Carner is on fire. One of the most drinkable Matassa reds I've had solo - the kind of bottle you lose track of halfway through because it vanishes in big, happy gulps. Aromas are playful and wild: peaches, peonies, field flowers, rhubarb, dried herbs. Juicy and energetic, with bright acidity, a flicker of vitamin C tartness, and a green, scratchy tannin that bites just enough. The minerality threads it all together. Feels raw but stylish - a wine that doesn't need to be polished to be utterly compelling.
