About
Les Quatre Terroirs is Georges Remy's answer to the house blend: rather than one parcel, it gathers all four villages he farms into a single wine.
Three of them, Bouzy, Ambonnay and Louvois, are grand cru villages. The fourth, Tauxières, is premier cru. Blend in grapes from a single premier cru and the whole wine takes the lower rank, which is why a Champagne built on three grand crus says Premier Cru on the front.
N°20 is the 2020 harvest, with a little 2019 and 2018 held back as reserve. It was fermented and aged in barrel on its lees, then went to bottle for its second fermentation in July 2021. It was bottled unfiltered, so a natural deposit may show in the glass.
The run came to 6,501 bottles, 290 magnums and 40 jeroboams. A house blend, then, in the grower's sense: small enough to count by the bottle.
