Spumant viu means living sparkling wine, and it is the name Vinum Estate gives its pét-nats. The first one appeared in 2017, two years after the family revived its winery.
The method is the ancestral one. Vinum describes a natural primary fermentation in the bottle, with no filtration and no added sulphites, sugar or yeast. The producer's e-label for the 2025 lists grapes as the only ingredient.
This is the Chardonnay version. It is not a grape the estate grows: Vinum lists Chardonnay among the varieties it sources from colleagues. Its shop page describes Spumant Viu as made from Fetească Regală and Chardonnay, while the e-label for this bottling gives Chardonnay alone.
It is dry in fact as well as in name. The producer declares 0.3 g of sugar per 100 ml, which is about 3 g/l.
The run is small. Vinum limits the edition to 351 bottles, the same figure the 2024 carried.
