Tasted during after party of Il Pirata event.
When it comes to big and traditional producers from Sicilia, Planeta rarely connects with my taste preferences. Burdesse is a well crafted Bordeaux blend displaying jammy fruits, cigar box, prune and smoke. Well balanced, though tannin level is absurdly high and stands out in a bad way, so it requires some great aeration. One of those full-bodied wines that is hard and not interesting to drink. Though again, objectively it's good.
I always wanted to taste this wine, but somehow it constantly eluded me. And funnily, I expected it to be mediocre, but instead it turned out to be a good one. Powerful and spicy bouquet with prune, black pepper and smoke. Well balanced, aftertaste is long, fruit-forward palate.
