Beautiful - but very young. Yellow fruit, vanilla, lemon, a touch of cream. Lemon tart. Barrel nicely integrated. High acidity, though a green edge is catching up. Great structure. Taut, mineral, precise - more nerve than richness. Needs a year or two to settle, but the bones are there.
Coteaux Champenois Ludes 1er Cru Blanc 2021 is the still Chardonnay from Domaine les Monts Fournois - sourced from the Les Monts Fournois lieu-dit on the south-facing 1er Cru slope of Ludes that gives the domaine its name. 100% Chardonnay, vinified and aged in oak.
The Bérêche-family side of this project has been releasing still Coteaux Champenois Chardonnay from the same lieu-dit under the Bérêche & Fils label for years (see the 2019 release) - the move to the Domaine label is part of consolidating the lieu-dit's identity around Juliette Alip's eponymous monopole project. Coteaux Champenois Chardonnay is small-volume by definition; this is small-volume even within that.
