Funky and young - honestly, this wants at least half a decade in the cellar before it really sings. Still freaking delicious today though. Plenty of volatile lift, loads of cherry, pomegranate, and a touch of sauerkraut. Fresh, with a bit more body compared to some other Matassa, but still very much in a light, vibrant style. Fairly tannic, super fresh. Tom Lubbe himself reckons the Rouge is built for 5-10 years of ageing, and you can feel why - there's structure here waiting to unfold. Already charming in its own wild way, but the best is yet to come.
Oh, it's so young! Stylish and tasty, but definitely too early to catch it at its best.
