Pian di Meta Vecchia

Podere Pian di Meta Vecchia is a tiny estate in Castiglione d'Orcia, in the Val d'Orcia of southern Tuscany - distinct from neighbouring Montalcino, in spite of how often it gets shorthand-grouped with it. The project is run by Elena Dainese and Andrea Varisco, former Venetian restaurateurs who relocated for a lifestyle change. The property is small: roughly half a hectare of vineyard, around a hectare of olives, several hectares of forest. Member of VinNatur.

The lineup is two cuvées, with an occasional Riserva: the TerraLuna Rosso from 100% Sangiovese, and a white labelled simply Bianco from 100% Trebbiano. The reds carry the TerraLuna name in IGT Toscana; the white's bottle carries only the minimal 'Bianco / Vino' wording, though trade listings still describe it as Toscana IGT. Tiny production - the entire estate output runs in the low thousands of bottles per year.
