Pale, translucent ruby - the colour Pupillin Ploussard pretty much always gets to - opening on a perfume of flowers and a pile of red berries: cherry, redcurrant, raspberry. Tasted blind I read it as Pinot, or maybe one of those super delicate Australian reds where the line gets blurred. Beautiful structure on the palate, fresh, long, light-footed - the kind of red that doesn't need weight to land. Honestly, just beautiful.
100% Poulsard (locally 'Ploussard') from Philippe Bornard's organic Côtes du Jura holdings around Pupillin. The 'Point barre' cuvée is the estate's flagship Ploussard - light-coloured and almost translucent red as the variety naturally gives in Pupillin, vinified low-intervention and bottled without added sulfur. Bottled August 2017, 12% ABV.
