The Labets of Rotalier made their name on the idea of one parcel, one wine, from their own vines in the Sud-Revermont. La Plante à Huet comes from another side of the family's work, bottled under the word "nomades": grapes from somewhere else, vinified by Domaine Labet under the name Labet vignerons and bottled at Rotalier.
The fruit is Pineau d'Aunis, bought from organically farmed vines planted between 1946 and 1976, a mix of massal and clonal selections. They grow on clay with flint over a base of tuffeau limestone. The domaine does not say where the vineyard is, but both the grape and the ground point west to the Loire: the INAO calls tuffeau the emblematic stone of the Val de Loire, and the reds of the Coteaux du Loir appellation are made mostly from Pineau d'Aunis.
In the cellar the bunches went in whole and macerated for fifteen days. The wine was pressed when about two-thirds of the sugar had fermented, and finished its fermentation off the skins. Nothing was added along the way, and sulphur stayed under 7 mg/L.
A Loire grape, a Jura cellar, and the family name on the label instead of the domaine's.
