Playing With Fire II

Playing With Fire is Jérôme Lefèvre's rosé d'assemblage, a white base of Meunier coloured with a still red of Pinot Noir. This second Playing With Fire draws both from the Mont de Bonneil, on the western reaches of the Vallée de la Marne, in the proportion 90% Meunier to 10% Pinot Noir. The house presents its Lefèvre-label cuvées as organic, certified by Ecocert, and each made only once; this one ran to 1,000 numbered bottles.

The white is Meunier from 2020, bottled for its second fermentation on 27 July 2021 and left on its lees until April 2025, close to four years. The producer's website puts the tirage two years later, in July 2023, but the bottle says 2021. The red is Pinot Noir from 2023, two harvests after the wine went into bottle, so it must have been added at the very end, after the second fermentation. The house does not say how.

The label is Lefèvre's personal tribute to the artist Steven Parrino, as the back label states.
