Organic micro-house at Essômes-sur-Marne in the western Vallée de la Marne, founded 2020 around the Delalot vineyard at Charly-sur-Marne and Saulchery; under the Lefèvre label, one new cuvée a year, each made only once.
Maison Jérôme Lefèvre is a small organic house at Essômes-sur-Marne, near Château-Thierry, in the western Vallée de la Marne. It was founded in 2020 to bring together two labels, Delalot and Jérôme Lefèvre, and it works as a négociant-manipulant.
Jérôme Lefèvre started in 2009 with Champagne Delalot, from a small family vineyard at Charly-sur-Marne and Saulchery. The parcels were converted to organic farming, and the first wine from the first certified plot came from the 2013 harvest, per the house. Since 2019 it has added parcels at Mont de Bonneil and Essômes-sur-Marne, converted to organic farming from the start. The Association des Champagnes Biologiques lists a hectare or so of vines, 70% of it certified, with Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and around 6,000 organic bottles a year. The house says it has held négociant status since 2021 so that it can buy in what its own vines cannot supply.
The two labels work differently. Under the Delalot label the parcel cuvées Pléiades, Les Illuminations and Impressions and the blend Les Dionysiaques recur, always as vintage wines. Under the Jérôme Lefèvre label the house makes one cuvée a year, each new and made only once, with names like Playing With Fire, Hunger For Speed and Rated X; its stated ambition is to experiment with wines that are always different and always bold. Alongside the Champagnes it makes a series of Coteaux Champenois and, through the Société Marnaise de Spiritueux, gins and a malt spirit.
