Second Beguet in two days and second disappointment. The wine is dead - both in colour and on the palate. Nose is a mediocre natty compote of two sad berries diluted with semi-sparkling water. Nothing offensive, nothing nasty - just hollow. Two bottles from the same producer, two misses; starting to think this isn't bad luck but a pattern.
Hehe, a new release of Fresh Impression. Red is the colour of my dress (sorry). A wonderful explosion of fermenting berries (well, they do explode) amplified by volatile acids. Maybe a bit of barberry and pomegranate. So it's not complex. But it offers a charming palate with good fruit, acidity and fun. Aye, we are talking about spontaneous fermentation (Mr Om loves that, I know).
