Beautiful stuff. A cascade of red berries - raspberry, cornelian cherry, redcurrant - wrapped in juniper and subtle oak. Even a hint of red florals flickers through. Despite the 14.1% alcohol, it feels light on its feet, almost airy. The tannin is finely woven, the juiciness just right. It's both vivid and easy to drink - a wine that manages to be rich without ever feeling heavy. A real pleasure.
A blend of Shiraz (30%), Merlot (28%), Cabernet Sauvignon (14%), Fetească Neagră (14%) and Rară Neagră (14%).
Oh, this was unexpected. There are currently two red 5 Elemente wines - one with a black label (Negru) and one with a red label (Roşu). The latter is more delicate and refined - at least by the standards of this style.
The nose is lovely: full of red berries, a touch of florals, with oak beautifully integrated, alongside hints of smoke, vanilla and coffee. Bright acidity, rounded texture, and everything feels well in place. Long, graceful finish. I have tasted it multiple times and also picked up a bottle to explore it more slowly - definitely worth it.
