Post a four-hour stint in the decanter, this one's ready to talk. It's a stylish affair, not a hair out of place. The aromatics flex with chocolate, prunes, leather, and a swarm of black fruits, not shy to show off. Vanilla, sweet tobacco, candied berries, and violets join the fray, adding more layers. On the palate, it's got a good volume without throwing its weight around, balancing nicely. The taste rounds out with a sweet-savory medley of candied cherry, coffee, sweet tobacco, and chocolate. Despite the rush of a tasting event, it hints at a complex persona beneath, leaving a desire for a longer acquaintance.
"Echinoctius" seems to be derived from "equinox", which refers to the time or date at which the sun crosses the celestial equator when day and night are approximately equal in length. This can symbolize balance or harmony, which may be relevant in the context of the wine's character or the winery's name, Equinox.
Echinoctius is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (25%) and Rară Neagră (15%). This blend has undergone a maturation process of 30 months in oak barrels. Only 2,230 bottles produced.
