The Bretonnière is Jacky Blot's four-hectare monopole, a clos of old Chenin on the premières côtes at Noizay. It lies in Vouvray, but because Blot vinifies it at his Montlouis cellar across the boundary it loses the Vouvray name and goes out as Vin de France. Fifty- to sixty-year-old vines on a thin layer of clay over tuffeau limestone; fermented on wild yeasts and aged about a year in Burgundy barrels on the fine lees, a small share of them new. Bone dry, no malolactic, precise and mineral in the way only Blot's Chenins are. 12%. Jacky Blot died in May 2023, and the 2023s were finished by his son Jean-Philippe, who now runs the domaine.
