A grand cru Chardonnay from Oger on the Côte des Blancs, a village whose roughly 402 planted hectares are 99.6 percent Chardonnay per the Union des Maisons de Champagne. Together with neighbouring Le Mesnil-sur-Oger it forms the domaine's Côte des Blancs base - 22 small parcels with almost as many expositions, sharing a chalk subsoil under fine brown earth or chalky colluvium; one retailer puts the split at 19 parcels in Le Mesnil and 3 in Oger. Farming here, as across the estate, excludes herbicides and synthetic insecticides, follows biodynamic principles, and was certified organic in 2023.
The domaine describes one cellar pattern for its parcel champagnes - traditional pressing on a stainless press, spontaneous fermentation, and elevage on the lees in barrels without racking, with summer bottling free of fining or filtration - and this bottling's label fits it: extra brut, bottled in high summer.
This release carries the 2023 harvest as its base - unlike its siblings, the back label names no reserve wines - bottled 29 July 2024 and disgorged 8 April 2026, about 20 months after bottling. 1889 bottles, lot OG23 1.
