V.P. - Vieillissement Prolongé - is Egly-Ouriet's extended-aged Grand Cru cuvée, base 2017. The fruit comes from the estate's Grand Cru villages on the southern flank of the Montagne de Reims - around 90% Ambonnay, the rest Bouzy and Verzenay, all Pinot-Noir country on thin clay-limestone over pure Campanian chalk. Forty-to-sixty-year-old vines. Composition runs to the house standard, roughly 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay.
Whole-cluster Coquard pressing; fermented and aged in older Dominique Laurent oak (around 10% new in any given year); indigenous yeasts; no malolactic blocked or allowed by vintage decision. Eighty-four months on lees in bottle. Dosage 2 g/L, hand-disgorged July 2025. Unfined, unfiltered. 12.5% ABV.
