Morey-Saint-Denis family domaine centred on Chambolle-Musigny: the largest private owner in Les Amoureuses, with Bonnes-Mares and Clos de Bèze.
Domaine Robert Groffier is based in the centre of Morey-Saint-Denis, next door to Clos de Tart, but its heart is in Chambolle-Musigny. The family has been in Morey since the 19th century. Jules Groffier built up the vineyards, and his son Robert started bottling at the domaine in the 1950s and gave it his name. Robert's son Serge ran it next, and today it is Serge's son Nicolas, who took over in the mid-2000s with 2004 as his first vintage and now runs it with his wife Céline.
Before 2025 the domaine farmed just under 8 ha. It is the largest private owner in Les Amoureuses, with about a hectare, and held around a hectare each of Bonnes-Mares, Les Sentiers and Les Hauts-Doix, plus 0.42 ha of Chambertin-Clos de Bèze and about 0.8 ha of village Gevrey in Les Seuvrées. Since 2022 the Amoureuses has been split in two by soil: La Grâce des Argiles from the clay on the Clos de Vougeot side and La Délicatesse des Sables from the sand towards Musigny.
In the cellar, the share of whole clusters varies by cuvée and vintage, fermentations run on native yeasts, new oak is moderate for the premiers crus and much higher for the grands crus, and nothing is filtered. In 2025 the estate divided: Domaine DeCéline, named after Céline, took some parcels, the sandiest part of Les Sentiers among them, along with the Vin de France wines, and 2024 was the last Passetoutgrain under the Groffier name. As Nicolas puts it, the job is not to impose a style but to let each parcel speak.
