Red Spain by Vasyl Velykanskiy
Six bottles of red wines from Spain.

Exploring new wines is a key aspect of wine-tasting events, and they also provide an excellent chance to sample wines that may have been out of reach due to their price. This was certainly the case when Vasyl Velykanskiy suggested he would uncork some exceptional bottles at an upcoming event - including Las Iruelas, Valbuena 5°, and the 2004 vintage of Viña Ardanza Reserva. The prospect of tasting these renowned wines made the event irresistible.
Vasyl had planned a structured yet engaging routine. We knew most of the bottles in advance, but the sequence of tasting remained a surprise. We sampled three wines in a row, followed by a reveal and discussion, before moving on to the next set. This format is engaging and also has a tiny grain of suspense. A special acknowledgement is due to Vasyl for his curation, the participants for their enthusiastic involvement, and Lo Bar for providing an inviting venue for this memorable evening.
