Goutte d'Or is the first Meursault premier cru on the road out of the village towards Puligny, and its name, "drop of gold", is said to come from the flints in its soil that glint like drops of gold. Domaine Fabien Coche works a parcel there as part of a family estate founded in the 1940s by Julien Coche-Debord and run for years after him by his son Alain Coche-Bizouard.
The domaine describes the Meursault slopes as east-facing, on a mix of limestone, clay and marl. Merchants put the Goutte d'Or vines at over 80 years old, though the domaine itself gives no figure. In the cellar the approach is to leave things alone: nothing added, no fining and no filtration, with only a small dose of liquid sulphur during vinification. The 2022 says it on the front label too: "non filtré".
