In the north, En Combe and Clos de Combe are fairly deep clay on a steady slope. To the east, close to the domaine, Les Crais, Justice and Grandes Raies sit on gravelly, free-draining colluvium from the Combe de Lavaux, on a very gentle slope. In the south, Clos de l'Arche, Fourneaux and Croix des Champs are silty soils over limestone.
The domaine blends and bottles them as one cuvée, each parcel bringing its own part to the whole. The vines are farmed biodynamically, certified Demeter.
Gevrey takes its name, the domaine says, from Gibriacus, a keeper of goats on land too dry for ordinary crops; Chambertin, its most famous vineyard, was added to the village name in 1847.
