OK, this is a touch better than the fresh 748. Where the 748 still tastes like potential, the 747 already shows what it's made of. Lovely oxidation on the nose - honey, baked apples, chalk - with that quiet Jacquesson confidence. The palate is where it really earns its place: brilliant acidity holding up real intensity, with mineral depth running underneath everything. Long, integrated, very tasty. The 2019 vintage suits this house style - warm enough for richness, cool enough for tension.
Jacquesson, founded 1798, transformed under the Chiquet brothers into one of Champagne's most singular houses. Their numbered cuvée series (starting with 728) replaced the traditional non-vintage blend with a single-vintage approach, each year a fresh blending decision. Large old oak barrels, extended lees ageing, minimal dosage, no filtration. Since 2022 under Artémis Domaines (François Pinault).
The 747 is based on the 2019 vintage - an excellent, warm year in Champagne. Blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier. 36 months on lees. Extra Brut.
