Join to read it and the restTorricella is Ricasoli's serious white, named for the Torricella parcel at Brolio - a high vineyard above 400 metres on sandstone, the Macigno del Chianti. The name is old but the grape is not: once a Malvasia-based white, Torricella is now 100% Chardonnay. It is fermented cool and slow in stainless steel, then given nine months in tonneaux, about a fifth of them new, with regular batonnage - a structured, age-worthy white rather than a simple one. 14%.
