Arietis (d2025)

Arietis, "of the Ram", is the name astronomers give the brightest star in Aries, and importers say that is where this wine takes its name. The house is in Troissy, but the vines are across the Marne in Vandières, in the lieux-dits La Perchotte and La Forzie.

The wine ferments on indigenous yeasts in 400-litre barrels, and malolactic is left out.

For its second fermentation it went into the cellar under a cork rather than a crown cap, in May 2023.

Across the river from home, then, and named for something further still.
