Beautiful - and turns out this bottle is a slightly different disgorgement than the ones I'd had before. Heavy on the honey, jerez-leaning, with baked apples leading the aromatic register. Properly evolved at this point - drinking it now is pure pleasure. Complex, multilayered, the kind of depth that comes from cellar time. A good illustration of why these wines reward patience.

Cuvée 746 is the 2018-vintage release in Jacquesson's numbered series - the house's single-vintage replacement for the traditional non-vintage blend, each number a fresh blending decision rather than a continuous reserve. The blend draws on Aÿ, Dizy, and Hautvillers (68%) plus Avize and Oiry (32%), with a small portion of reserve wines. The 2018 season - rainy winter, mild stormy spring, then fine dry conditions from June - led to an early harvest of healthy fruit with excellent ripeness and moderate acidity. Vinification and élevage in old oak casks on lees, three years in bottle on lees. Disgorged in two waves: November 2022 and June 2023.
This wine is more approachable than its 745 counterpart, offering a friendly mix of candied pears, bakery spices, brioche, butter, honey, and chalk. Its richness and roundness are complemented by a lengthy, satisfying finish.

This wine captivates with its charm and complexity. The bouquet is a delightful blend of baked apples intermingled with honey and nuts, complemented by notes of chalk and candied pears. Hints of lemon candies and a subtle whisper of Jerez add layers to its aromatic profile. On the palate, it's round and fresh with a slightly creamy texture, achieving a nice balance that makes it remarkably easy to drink.
