I'm not sure what exactly Ukrainian winemakers are chasing, but it often feels like flavour gets sacrificed for power or production value. Maybe I'm generalising - but Alex seems to be doing something different: experimenting, enjoying the process, and letting that joy reach the glass. Not every bottle hits, but this one does. A lovely skin-contact Pinot Gris - not especially deep, but definitely delicious. Just a splash of air and it becomes a bright, juicy fruit story, edged with volatile lift and a touch of bitter herbs. Friendly, open, and easy to drink - more about pleasure and fun than perfection.
We've opened multiple bottles of this release, and unfortunately, there's some noticeable variation. Many have shown too much VA and not enough fruit, but this one is solid. Easygoing, fruit-forward, and well-balanced, with decent acidity. A laid-back, natural skin-contact Pinot Grigio that delivers when it's on form. Considering that it costs around €7, it does offer good value.
