The 2004 felt livelier, even if it was already past its peak. Here, both the nose and the structure are clearly in decline. Still, it's a beautiful, delicious wine. Dried berries, chocolate, leather, dried flowers, earth, mushrooms---balsamic too. The acidity is still holding up nicely, though the tannins are fading, and the structure isn't quite there anymore.
That said, it's still a pleasure to drink. Long finish, lovely flavours. Elegant in its way.
