Third encounter with this wine, and the story hasn't changed much. Rhubarb and wild strawberries on the nose, that familiar mineral, herbal, juicy profile on the palate. Still not showing the brightness or structural depth this wine is clearly capable of - young and somewhat muted. But even at this stage, it's so effortlessly delicious and drinkable that it's hard to complain. The potential is undeniable; the patience required, considerable.
A great wine, though clearly still too young. If this had been my first encounter with Cuvée Romanissa, I'm not sure I would have fallen for it so much - but it's undeniably good. It reminds me a bit of some Poulsard or even Bastarda by Fedellos: wild strawberries, herbs, a stylish, mineral, juicy profile that's simply a pleasure to drink. The nose is a little closed, but on the palate it's vibrant, fresh, and delicious. A wine that already charms, even if it hasn't fully revealed itself yet.
This wine perfectly illustrates why it shouldn't be consumed too young. While it's undeniably charming and easy to drink, it currently lacks the depth and complexity it has the potential to develop. Despite this, it remains wonderful and stylish. I'm just a bit saddened by the lost potential that time and aging could have brought out. I say this as I hide my bottles to the bottom of the cellar.
