Didn't expect it to be this tasty. Straw, cider, flowers, chalk. Decent minerality, decent density, long aftertaste. Classy little Metodo Classico - punches above its weight.
Tenuta Corte Giacobbe's entry metodo classico - a blend of Chardonnay and Durella from hillside vineyards in Roncà, the volcanic edge of the Lessini Durello zone. Whole-cluster press, fermentation at 13°C in stainless steel with weekly bâtonnage on fine lees; tirage with cultured yeasts and 24-36 months on lees in bottle. 12.5% ABV. The wine is bottled as Vino Spumante di Qualità Metodo Classico (rather than under the Lessini Durello DOC) because the Chardonnay share exceeds the DOC's 15% non-Durella cap - the estate's DOC-eligible sparkling is the 100% Durella Cuvée Augusto Riserva.
